Hammond Optimist Smelt FryApril 25, 2026 Doors Open at 3:30 - dinner served from 4:00PM -7:00PM Located at The Lotus Grand (formerly St Michael's Ukrainian Hall) To purchase tickets: call Doyle at (219) 231 -5252 Our annual smelt fry takes place in April and is our Signature Fundraising event. With an average attendance of 400 people, the members of the community come out to support us so we can support the youth of our community. Door prizes, 50/50s, a chance to win $10,000 and yummy all-you-can-eat fried smelt draws large crowds while making this event a continued success.

Our own local project is the Hammond Optimist Youth Sports Complex and our affiliation with Hammond Optimist Youth Sports. The complex and program is named for us due to the contributions to develop the park and our yearly support of the HOYS program.
